Most of them are really shy to sing but kudos to Luke Evans! And Richard cracks a joke!

    This is so unfair

    December 14, 2013 by Darthleapyous

Why does Australia (where I live) get The Desolation of Smaug on boxing day when pretty much the rest of the world gets it on december 13th/14th. It is so unfair! we get it two weeks late! does anybody know why? I know its kinda tradition for it to come out on Boxing day here but still it's unfair!

I know that Hobbit: Desolation of smaug has just been released and all, but befor watching it, look at some images of smaug off the internet. I already have an idea of what he looks like in my head, and I must say, he is the most EPIC dragon I have ever seen! If you have not yet seen the movie, please tell me what you see. In my opinion, the final piice to the Smaug puzzle was an image of him on the side of an airplane.

    A DISCOVERY

    December 7, 2013 by Darthleapyous

Ok i went on IMDB and looked at the Hobbit TDOS page, and then i looked at the cast. I was surprised. Lawrence Makoare is playing Bolg. Is that correct? I thought Conan Stevens was? Another question i have- is Bolg even in TDOS? I have read reviews for the movie but i cant find any information about him.

    The Goblin wars

    December 4, 2013 by Burglebuber

None of my characters are characters from LOTR except Sauron, but they are the same races. This story has no LOTR refrences, or anything of the sort. The world is the same as it is in LOTR though. This takes place in the early third age, before the events of the hobbit. I also play LOTRO, so some of the places in this fanfic are taken from the game, I haven't seen a real map of Middle Earth lol. Enjoy!

Dristur the dwarf stepped gingerly down the stairs of Silver Deep. He was a simple miner, an unknown to most. He had found some Iron, and, after showing it to the foreman, Blogir, he was going down to mine more.

"Ah, there you are!" He said to the ore, as he began mining it with his pick. There were other miners. Gromi, the oldest miner, wal…

    Stupid polls!

    November 13, 2013 by Dalledayul

I just noticed that one of the polls on the main page for the LOTR Wikia is 'Which movie do you think stayed closest to the book?' or something like that. To my honest surprise, Fellowship of the Ring got top billing (by a freaking mile!). I personally think that it is probably the furthest from the books, and here are my reasons.

The first is that a hell of a lot of parts are missing. The Old Forest, Tom Bombadil, Bill Ferny, Buckland, Glorfindel and a bunch more. The Two Towers kept a lot of scenes, even if it was done on a slightly different timeline. Meanwhile, the Fellowship movie glances over the fact that Pippin travelled with Frodo and Sam from Bag End, Frodo stayed in the Shire for nearly two decades after Bilbo's party and the com…

    New Orc???

    November 8, 2013 by Darthleapyous

    I was watching the new

Hobbit production diary 12 and found a interesting part of it. If you pause the video at 0:15 there seems to be a new orc (it shows the unfinished part of it). The orc appears to looks like Azog, but it isn't him as it does not have a missing arm. Also, on it's forehead there appears to be metal plates similar to those of Bolg. Is this a new orc, or is it a redesign of Bolg? Perhaps one of Bolg's bodyguards?

The end credits song for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has been revealed and the lucky artist is Ed Sheeran! His song "I See Fire" is new and just for the movie, and even cooler is that EVERY instrument on “I See Fire” except for cello was performed by Sheeran himself! Check out the song below.

What do you think? Is this the right song for the end? It's a little odd not to hear some majestic orchestral number, but this could be a nice change. The lyrics also seem like a good fit for all the events we're expecting to see in the movie!

Can somone tell me what would happen if Morgoth had the ring?

    • He might be too powerful too take it and scorn the gift
    • Who would give Morgoth the One Ring anyway (besides Sauron)
    • If he had it do you think if he was not wearing it he would die, because, like Sauron, he would invest too much power in it (even more than sauron, because J.R.R Tolkien said that Sauron was more evil than Morgoth)
    • If he did have the ring could he and would he overthrow the Valar?
    • Or am I setting too much store by the ring, because Manwe and Varda could destroy the ring with a snap of their fingers.

Good and sad news, Tolkien movie fans! Today, one of the principal cast members finished filming and Peter Jackson felt it was necessary to commemorate the time Sir Ian McKellen spent on set as Gandalf with a farewell photo!

McKellen will have been Gandalf for SIX films when all of The Hobbit movies finally come out, and Jackson captioned the photo "Seconds ago we finished our last shot with Gandalf. The end of an incredible adventure that began in 1999. I'm feeling very sad right now."

We are too! McKellen made a great Gandalf so, while it's exciting to see that the movies are finishing up, it's sad to see our great wizard hang up his cloak! We wonder who's going to play Gandalf in twenty years when Hollywood decides to do a remake of LOTR... …

Here's what Jackson told Empire Magazine:

"You are going to get some serious Dwarvish disrespect of the elves at Rivendell," says Jackson.

"You are going to get more of Hobbiton," says producer / co-writer Philippa Boyens. "We always wanted to wend our way through Hobbiton, but in the end Bilbo has to run out of the door."

"You are going to get more Goblin Town, and the Great Goblin singing his song," adds Fran Walsh, Jackson's other half and fellow screenwriter. "It is …

According to the actress, "[Tauriel is] slightly reckless and totally ruthless and doesn’t hesitate to kill." She also hinted at some romance by saying, "[Tauriel] will definitely have a love story. I can’t give away too much about it. It’s not a huge focus but it is there and it is important and it does drive Tauriel and her story and her actions."

I have just figured out something about the notoriously mysterious Blue Wizards. They were sent by the Valar Orome, who was a great huntsman. They have some pictures depicting them with bows and arrows. Does this mean that, not only being wizards, the Blue Wizards were also great hunters? That would be pretty cool. Also Alatar's alternate name Morinehtar which means Darkness-Slayer could also mean that they had some hunting/fighting skills. Perhaps they slew the men of darkness in the east? I just thought i would share this with you people, as some people might not know.
