Attack of the Rohirrim

The Attack of the Rohirrim was a battle fought on the outskirts of Fangorn by the Horse-Lords and the Uruk-Hai of Isengard. The Uruk-Hai party under Ugluk that had killed Boromir and kidnapped Merry and Pippin attempted to escape across Rohan but, was stopped by an eored under the command of Eomer. They had been pursuing the orcs all that day, and they finally caught up at the edge of the forest. The Rohirrim surrounded the enemy and waited until nightfall to attack. The battle was harder fought than Eomer expected because at the time of the battle reinforcements under Mahur arrived. All of the orcs were destroyed by the Rohirrim. Near the end of the battle a small number almost escaped, but they were prevented from doing so by Eomer. The last clash of the battle was as Eomer dismounted and fought Ugluk in hand to hand combat. During the chaos Merry and Pippin were able to escape the Uruk-Hai.
