Aranwë was an Elf of Gondolin and the father of Voronwë. His son stated that he was from the House of Fingolfin, suggesting that Aranwë might have been a noble elf in Gondolin.
The Quenyan name Aranwë means "Kingly" or "Noble" from ara ("noble") and aran ("king"). The suffix -wë occur in many names, though not exclusively masculine.
