Ar-Sakalthôr was the twenty-second King of Númenor.

BiographyEdit

Ar-Sakalthôr followed the royal tradition of turning away from the ways of the Valar. He succeeded his father Ar-Zimrathôn as King, ruling Númenor for sixty-nine years, and was succeeded by his son, Ar-Gimilzôr. The traditional Quenya version of his name was "Tar-Falassion".

Ar-Sakalthôr died in SA 3102, living to the age of two-hundred and twenty-six. He ruled Númenor for sixty-nine years and was succeeded by his son, Ar-Gimilzôr.[1]

EtymologyEdit

Falassion means "Shore-son" or "Child of the Shore" from the Quenya falassë ("shore")[2] and -ion (a patronymic ending, "son of, descendant").
