Andvír was named as the son of Andróg, and was with his father one of Túrin's outlaws during the First Age.
Biography[]
Andvír was one of only three to escape from Amon Rûdh, along with Túrin and Beleg, after the massacre of Túrin's band following the Petty-dwarf Mîm's betrayal.
Many years later, as an old man, Andvír was present at the Havens of Sirion when the poet Dírhaval arrived. Andvír supplied the poet with the account of Túrin's deeds from the time he fled Doriath to his coming to Nargothrond, and as a result saved that knowledge from being lost.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Andvír is not mentioned in either the The Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales, and is referenced only in an introductory note to The Children of Húrin, and in Part Three of The War of the Jewels.
